Status Effects
Composable conditions such as Wet, Cold, Hungry, Dehydrated, Exhausted, Bleeding and Sick.
Composable status system
Statuses have type, severity, source, start time, optional expiry and stacking rules. Templates display them; domain systems determine what they actually do.
| Family | Examples | Possible consequences |
|---|---|---|
| Exposure | Wet, Soaked, Cold, Freezing, Hot, Overheated | Temperature, sleep, stamina, health risk |
| Needs | Hungry, Starving, Thirsty, Dehydrated | Recovery/function penalties, eventually health damage |
| Fatigue | Tired, Exhausted | Action capacity, combat and recovery |
| Injury | Bleeding, Wounded, Fractured, Concussed | HP loss, movement/tool penalties, treatment needs |
| Illness | Sick, Feverish, Food Poisoning, Wound Infection | Hydration, stamina, AP recovery, health |
| Situational | Sheltered, Resting, Hidden, Encumbered | Context-dependent modifiers |
Interactions matter
Statuses are intentionally not mutually exclusive. A cold, soaked, exhausted survivor with a bleeding wound has several simultaneous problems that can compound.
