Farming & Foraging
Persistent gardens, seed saving, compost and a much deeper renewable wild-food and natural-material ecology.
Safe House gardens
Garden plots are persistent physical facilities with soil condition, water reserve, crop state and real seed stock. Crops progress lazily through authoritative timestamps rather than needing continuous simulation.
Crop depth
The active crop catalogue includes roots, alliums, leaves, legumes, fruiting crops, brassicas, herbs and more. The 0.7.1 farming pass expanded the catalogue from 13 to 27 crops and added crop-specific growth, water, temperature, frost, yield, soil demand and residue behaviour.
Seed saving
Suitable crops can provide deliberate seed production. Advanced seed saving is Knowledge-gated and remains physical: harvesting food does not conjure infinite planting stock.
Compost & soil
Crop residue and appropriate organic matter can feed the existing compost cycle. Finished compost returns nutrients to garden plots, making long-term food production part of a resource loop instead of a free refill system.
Wild food
Foraging is habitat-, season- and depletion-aware. The 0.7.1 wild-food pass added seasonal greens, hedgerow fruit, nuts, roots, edible fungi and dangerous lookalikes while preserving survivor-specific identification Knowledge.
Natural materials
Bark strips, tree resin, flexible wands and long grass bundles can be gathered renewably where ecology permits and turned into cordage, tinder, baskets, bedding and other bushcraft resources.
